Library Status Updates
Access to Libraries
- For those with access to Morningside campus: The following libraries are open for individuals with access to the Morningside campus: Avery Library, Butler Library, Business Library (Uris), Journalism Library, Lehman Library, Science & Engineering Library, Social Work Library, Math Library, and Music & Arts Library. Check hours here before visiting. Access to the Morningside campus is restricted. Please check campus access updates.
- Access to other libraries: System-wide library hours can be found here, including library locations outside the Morningside campus restriction perimeter.
- Ask a Librarian service remains available.
- Learn more about alumni privileges.
Returning Library Materials
- For those with access to Morningside campus: library materials may be returned to any open library location or to the return bins outside of Butler Library.
- For those with access to Barnard campus: library materials (including those from any Columbia University library) can be returned to the Barnard Library during open hours.
- For all library users: library materials may be returned to the Burke Library or the Social Work Library during their open hours.
Most library materials are renewable online via your My Borrowing Account in CLIO. If you are trying to renew items that are non-renewable, such as Borrow Direct, Interlibrary Loan, or Course Reserves materials, please contact circulation@columbia.edu for assistance.
Planned Library Service Changes
The C.V. Starr East Asian Library is temporarily closed for construction, with a planned reopening for January 2025. Learn more here.
The Mathematics Library will be temporarily closed for refurbishment in summer 2024, with a planned reopening for September 2024. Collections remain available through our Pick-Up and Scan & Deliver services. Please continue to check this page for updates, and email math@library.columbia.edu with any questions.
The Arthur W. Diamond Law Library will be closed for renovation beginning in May 2024. More information about that renovation can be found on the Law School’s website.
